今回のわたしの作品を構成するのは、縞模様が書かれた数体のマネキンと肖像画である。わたしの作品の中で「マネキン」が意味するのは、特定の誰かではない「社会の不特定多数の人々」である。わたしたちを束縛する「自由であるために守らなければならない規則」は私達を囚人ような気持ちにしているので、マネキンの身体に直接縞模様を描きつけた。きっと犯罪者たちが身に纏う、衣服としての囚人服よりも、社会によって着させられた囚人服・「自由であるために守らなければならない規則」を脱ぎ去る方がずっと難しいと思う。
「何にでもなれる自由さと可能性を持っていること」が独立したアイデンティティであるという風にも言えるかもしれないが、それは本当だろうか？結果、この自画像は個人の唯一性を疑う自画像となった。何がわたしを構成しているのだろう。何がわたしを規定するだろう。科学的な生物色々な化学記号や、DNAの話で説明できそうだ。しかし社会的にわたしがわたしであることを証明するためには、次の質問を自問し続けることが必要である。何が私を私であると規定するのか？何が私と不特定多数の人々を区別するのか？わたしのわたしによるわたしのための定義づけをするために制作と思索を続けたい。
In my work, the mannequins signify an unspecified number of people in society and is not a representation of specific individuals.Dogma and desire imprison us. We all live in cages called society.We are forced into metaphorical prison clothes and these are probably more difficult to remove than the actual uniforms worn by criminals.The invisible cage mentioned at the beginning is not shaped like a rectangular box, but I imagine it as the shape of my body. Therefore, the act of capturing my contour line is an act of capturing and seeing the "invisible cages" of society.
It seemed like anyone could fit inside the outline. Although it was my own contour line, a drawing I made to confirm my own existence, "my likeness" was not expressed on the paper. Instead, "an unspecified large number of people" were drawn. As a result, this self-portrait became a self-portrait doubting the uniqueness of individuals. My self-portrait shows the process of thinking about the truthfulness of personal independence. Through this work, I wanted to ask myself the following questions: What shapes me to be me? What distinguishes me from unspecified people?
